Ariel Lerner, B.Sc. - PhD Student

Studies & experience: Ariel is a PhD student in the Biomedical Sciences program at Mount Sinai, concentrating in Cancer Biology. She received her B.S. in Biology from The College of New Jersey in 2022. As an undergraduate, she conducted research in plant phylogenomics, and went on to study cell cycle and metabolic signaling cross-talk as a research technician at Rutgers University. Ariel joined the Izzo Lab in May 2025, where she will investigate how clonal hematopoiesis may lead to blood malignancies in different contexts.

Hobbies: Making themed Spotify playlists, watching and predicting Oscar contenders, doing yoga, and traveling to new places.

Future goals: To understand cancer evolution in order to identify targeted therapies for patients at any stage of the disease, to promote science communication and mentorship, and to have fun while doing cool research!
